This week is all about the boy bands!! I’ve been listening non-stop to One Direction. They were 3rd place on 2010 X Factor in the UK. I can’t even handle how adorable they are. They are all amazing singers, and really love what they’re doing! I’m planning a trip to see them. I hope it works out. I’ll be flying to Tennessee to see them with my best friend, Jenn. Honestly, they are great singers. My favorite is Harry Styles. I think my favorite songs are “I Want” and “Tell Me A Lie”. And of course “What Makes You Beautiful”. I just can’t get enough of them.

Honestly, I thought this week it was going to be a really depressing entry from me, because Friday was my best friend Tiffany’s birthday. She passed away almost 9 years ago. She would be turning 25. I was planning on listening to Good Charlotte and Simple Plan and crying my eyes out for days. I think music has everything to do with it. I ended up listening to One Direction and only crying a little bit… Mostly dancing around my house remembering how Tiff and I used to dance around to *NSync. It ended up being a pretty good day. =] -Kim

This week I spent mostly listening to pop music. More specifically, I spent the week listening to One Direction and Block B. Block B, a Kpop band, really makes me wish that boy bands weren’t so scarce in America. Seriously, Koreans, I am so jealous of all your boy bands. Kpop makes me happy. Kpop should make everyone happy.

Click here if you’re not happy.

Are you happy, now? Listen to that catchy tune. Look at those adorable boys dancing. See that gross gooey puddle on the ground? That is my heart. It has melted.

So, some bands are really hard to trace back where I first heard of them, and even though I heard of Block B very recently, I can’t exactly pinpoint when or how I came across them. I think it had something to do with their leader, Zico. All that aside, I’m willing to admit, I liked them immediately, but refused to admit it to myself. I kept sneaking back to watch the videos, and then I was finally like, “ahh fuck it,” and obtained their mini album. If you like Kpop, boy bands, or catchy pop music, I would recommend them. If you don’t speak Korean, please don’t let that stop you from giving them a listen. It didn’t stop me. –Elyssa

The What A Babe Team talks about their current music choices.

Four Year Strong is one of the best bands in the whole world. -Caitie

I have been listening to A Rocket To The Moon this week. They are definitely one of my favorite bands, musically, and personality wise, some of my favorite people. One of my favorite songs is definitely “Sometimes”. I can’t explain how much I love that song. Also, “No One Will Ever Get Hurt”. I think I could listen to those two songs over and over for an entire day and still not get tired of them! I just checked the number of plays, and they’re 3 and 4 from ARTTM. 1 is “Mr. Right”, and 2 is the piano version of “Like We Used To” from the Deluxe version of their album On Your Side. “Not A Second To Waste” just came on my iTunes and I’m reminded of how I love this as well. I just can’t get enough of A Rocket To The Moon! -Kim

A band that has been all up in my ears recently, is this band from Japan called SuG. Seriously, all my friends and personal tumblr followers can vouch; they’re seriously all I talk about. I’ve been listening to mostly their newer stuff and random old songs over the past couple months, but about two weeks ago I went on a huge downloading spree, put their discography in order in a playlist (only slightly obsessive), and gave it a good listen. Holy shit, you guys, they are so awesome.

Okay, but seriously, they’re really good. Listening through their music from oldest to newest, I could really hear the growth, although they can’t really seem to stick with one music style, and go back in forth between harder songs, catchy pop songs, and an infusion of both.  Most of their songs seem to have really light themes to the lyrics (correct me if I’m wrong, SuG fans), too, which I personally like.

I’m going to be completely honest with our dear followers, the first thing that drew me into this band was their terrible English song titles and their eyesore of an album cover. Like, it was so bad that I needed to have a listen to figure out if they were literally talking about those things in their songs. I was hesitant at first, but I quickly fell in love with their music and, to a point, the members themselves. That’s right, they not only make awesome music, but the members, Takeru, Masato, Yuji, Chiyu, and Shinpei, are absolutely adorable, personality-wise and physical appearance-wise. Watching their personally edits for their newest single/music video, “Toy Soldier”, I was seriously cracking up or “aww”ing the entire time, even though I wasn’t buying for a second that Chiyu and Masato were really playing their instruments. -Elyssa

A few months ago, we decided that when something awesome music-wise came up, we would post it here on thewhatababe.com for you guys to consider. I just finished listening to the new album "Toxic" by the Japanese metal band The GazettE. It was definitely one of those albums where after you listen to it for the first time, you go back and listen to it again. Just to get a little taste of their music, I would suggest listening to their single “Vortex”, because that song is absolutely brilliant, in my opinion.
And maybe you guys are wondering, “Why does WAB keep posting about Japanese bands?” Well, for me personally, it really inspires me to hear the passion in the music without really knowing the words. Music is a universal language. I feel that the passion from these bands, especially The GazettE, really flows through my body and helps me with my own musical voice.
Okay, that was really cheesy, sorry. I just didn’t want this to sound like a “review”, it’s more of just my musical opinion. It’s always good to explore other musical genre.
Basically, if you like music, or have ears, you should listen to The GazettE’s new album, “Toxic”.
I’m not going to give you a download link right on here… but just a hint… if you look up “Toxic” in the tumblr search, it’s definitely easy to find. Or, you can buy it on iTunes or amazon.
If anyone has any recommendations of any albums that came out this week, I would like to hear your opinions. A lot of new albums came out in America this week.

A Benefit Concert For Stevie Rae

hopelessromantic0123:

Check out what the Sandy Post had to say about miss Stevie here! Please, come out & support my dear friend by showing up at this benefit show being thrown for her at the Wonder Ballroom on Friday, October 14th. Doors open at 7pm & the show starts at 8pm. This event just so happens to be the day before Stevie’s 20th birthday, so let’s make it a night to remember for her.

The show will be a blast, because the bands In Bloom, All Falls Through, She’s Not Dead (all girl band), One Hour Newport, & recently added an acoustic set by the band Hands For Battle will be joining us. In honor of Stevie’s love for the band Green Day, each band is going to perform a Green Day song in their set that night.

In Bloom will also be giving a free CD to the first 10 people that come through the door. The guys will be donating 50% of the profit of all their merch sales, & they will also be raffling off an autographed pink guitar from them. How awesome is that!?! :D

I am telling you, this is a night you guys & gals are not going to want to miss out on! If you are interested in buying a ticket to come to the show, you can contact any of these bands, Tammy Urwin (Stevie’s mom), or myself. We all have tickets that we would love to sell to each & everyone of you. Tickets are $10 in advance & $12 at the door. If you would like to meet up with me & buy a ticket, you can either contact me on here (Tumblr), Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1559406342 , Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/cjgsmile

If you are unable to show up at this event, feel free to leave Stevie a donation here at http://prayforstevierae.bbnow.org/

Thank you all so much for your time, love, & support for Stevie, it is very much appreciated! If you could, please pass on this message for the amazing Stevie. We love you Stevie!!! :) :) :)

If any of you guys live in the Portland area, please come! It’s to help out our friend, Stevie, who got hit by a truck earlier this year.
